Safety Instructions
The Lucia N°03 meditation lamp is not a certified medical device. It is therefore not intended for the diagnosis, treatment, alleviation or prevention of diseases, disorders or abnormal physical conditions or resulting symptoms, nor for the restoration, alteration or correction of the structure or function of any part of the body. This applies to both humans and animals.
Commissioning:
When putting your Lucia N°03 into operation, please observe the safety instructions in the current operating instructions. Read them carefully. This will help you to avoid mistakes that could lead to malfunctions.
Only use the device if you are physically and mentally fit. If you allow other people to use the device, make sure that they do so voluntarily. Do not force anyone. Point out possible risks to the person. Make sure that there are no exclusion criteria for this person. If necessary, have the person sign to confirm that they have been informed by you before a session.
Exclusion criteria:
Persons under the age of 18:
During childhood and adolescence, the brain is still developing. A tendency to seizures may still be unrecognized and therefore represents an increased risk. Around 0.8% of all children between the ages of 4 and 14 suffer from photosensitive epilepsy, which disappears again in the late teenage years.
Pregnant women:
Pregnant women are excluded from use, as it is not possible to predict how the application will affect the fetus.
Sleep deprivation:
There is an increased risk of convulsions (seizures) occurring after sleep deprivation.
People with stroboscope intolerance:
- People with so-called photosensitive epilepsy: seizures are triggered by visual stimuli (usually flashes of light).
- People with photogenic epilepsy: the seizures are provoked exclusively by light stimuli.
- People with a general intolerance to stroboscopes or sensitivity to light
Persons with mental or psychiatric illnesses:
Under certain circumstances, the use of the device can have negative effects or lead to uncontrollable reactions due to the use of psychotropic drugs. The use of the device should be clarified with the attending physician before use.
People under the influence of substances:
Medication, alcohol, various drugs etc. lead to an altered
Medication, alcohol, various drugs, etc. lead to an altered state of consciousness. The use of the device can lead to an undesirable intensification of this state or to uncontrollable reactions. If you are taking medication prescribed by a doctor, you should consult your doctor before using the device.
Info:
In principle, a seizure can be triggered by various events in everyday life. The probability of a sudden seizure is very low, but cannot be ruled out. As there is always the possibility of undiagnosed epilepsy, the risk of a first seizure is increased when using flickering light. Consult your doctor for more information.
In rare cases, unpredictable convulsions may occur in connection with deep trance states triggered by pulsed light. Convulsions are spasms that are accompanied by twitching of a part of the body or the whole body. Convulsions can be mild or severe. A person in this state may be unresponsive.
Flashbacks:
In rare cases, unpredictable flashbacks may occur in association with deep trance states that can be achieved with pulsed light. Ask your doctor about this. A flashback is a psychological phenomenon. It is a sudden re-experiencing or re-experiencing triggered by a key stimulus. The person affected suddenly and usually violently experiences an experience or emotional state from the past.
Emergency Procedure
What can an accompanying person do if a light-traveling person (= person using the device) has an emergency (e.g. epileptic or similar seizure)?
- Switch off the device immediately - see safety measures in the operating instructions.
- In the event of convulsions, protect the person traveling with the light from injuring themselves; remove objects that could cause injury.
- If necessary, support the cramping person so that they cannot fall off a chair, for example.
- We recommend lying on your side to prevent choking in the event of an epileptic seizure and if foam develops in the mouth.
- Call for help - always have the emergency numbers to hand and familiarize yourself with how to use a working telephone.
Generally we advise to have first-aid training.
